BREAKING : Nigerian Army names new GOCs, others in major shakeup - GABITAINMENT NEWS

The Nigerian Army has announced the posting and appointment of some senior officers  to command, instructional and all its formations and units. The shakeup which affected top brass of the Nigerian Army, is said to have been carried out to ensure efficiency in military operations. Gabitainment Post  reports that there has been a spike in daring attacks by terrorists and other criminal elements in recent times. The redeployment of senior officers is contained in a statement issued by Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachuku, on Friday and seen by  Gabitainment Post . The Nigerian Labour Congress on Wednesday moved its protest to the National Assembly, Abuja. Before the Labour Union arrived at the Legislative Houses, security had been beefed up with fierce-looking security agents spread all over the complex. The human and vehicular traffic was massive with motorists finding it difficult to enter the complex. The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has reiterated their readiness to gather its teaming members across Nigeria for a nationwide protest in all the 36 States of the Federation and Abuja, Tuesday, in demand for the federal government to resolve all the lingering issues that have kept the tertiary education closed, and have the schools open for academic activities. President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, to hands off negotiations with the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). The President, who gave the directive during a briefing by the heads of the various concerned ministries, departments and agencies of government on Tuesday in Abuja, also okayed the suggestion by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, to take over the negotiations. Adamu was said to have complained to the gathering the reason behind his prolonged silence on the matter, saying his labour and employment counterpart had since 2016 argued “that only the labour ministry has the mandate to negotiate with striking workers unions in Nigeria.” ASUU has also blamed Ngige for allegedly complicating the crisis and making resolution difficult. The outcome of the meeting held by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday with relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs)  to end the agitations by university unions ought to be beyond spin-doctoring and conjectures. It is a pity that almjost all media houses allowed themselves to be deceived by interested sources that are not the authorized spokesmen of the government. Christian Association Of Nigeria The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has directed all churches in Nigeria to advise their members to vote against presidential candidates who have been linked to hard drugs, Boko Haram, corruption or any violent religious groups before. This was disclosed in a circular which emanated from the Political and Strategy Committee of CAN and was sent to all churches in Nigeria. According to the circular, titled “2023 General Elections; Whom To Vote For,” CAN enumerated qualities that the presidential candidate must possess and the policies that should either be implemented or rejected. Among the qualities CAN said Christians should look out for in a candidate are honesty, truthfulness, respect for the rule of law, respect for religious and ethnic diversity, compassion, disciplined and credibility.
