As the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu, savours his victory at the presidential primary, the party is said to be in a dilemma over who to pick as his running mate for the 2023 election. Various caucuses in the party are reportedly behind the push for eight names as likely preferred choice as running mate. No fewer than six camps in the APC in the North are backing separate individuals, including serving and former state governors, as well as ex-ministers who played key roles at the conventions that produced the current APC national officers and the just-concluded presidential primary in Abuja. Pdp1 After securing just two votes at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries in Kaduna North Federal Constituency of the House of Representatives, Adam Namadi, son of former Vice-President Namadi Sambo, has reportedly asked delegates to refund the N2 million each he doled out before the election. Namadi, who had promised to add N1.5 million to the amount given to each of the delegates, secured the least votes among the three contenders. The delegates raked in millions of naira from the aspirants who appeared in a hurry to outspend one another. At the end, Samaila Suleiman, the incumbent representative of the constituency carried the day as he defeated Namadi and Shehu Usman ABG. Suleiman, who recently decamped from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP, won with 22 votes against Shehu Usman ABG who polled 14 votes. Late Gen. Sani Abacha's Chief Security Officer (CSO), Major Hamza Al-Mustapha (Rtd) has joined the 2023 presidential race. Al-Mustapha declared his interest to run on the platform of the Action Alliance. While picking his nomination form, at the AA secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, the retired Major promised to end insecurity bedeviling the Northeast and Northwest geopolitical zones of Nigeria. According to him, his administration would provide sustainable development in order to assist in boasting the country’s economy. The AA national chairman, Chief Kenneth Udeze, challenged the party members and officers on the need to work towards the victory of the party’s candidates across the nation. Udeze commended Mustapha for stimulating his beliefs of a better Nigeria.

Gov. Simon Bako Lalong Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has approved the creation of 268 Districts and Village Areas as well as 2 Chiefdoms. He also restored 3 others (2nd Class) as well as approved the grading of 5 others on 3rd Class Status. The details released by the Secretary to the Government of the State Prof. Danladi Atu indicate that the newly created Chiefdoms are Lamba Chiefdom in Wase Local Government (3rd class) and Menkaat Chiefdom in Shendam Local Government (3rd class). This is exactly what happened to Abdullar Alhaji Umaru on the 14th day of July 1999. Here is the gist of what happened in that case as decided by the Supreme Court in SHALLA v.
