The outgoing NAUS Chairman started with a welcome speech, he also appreciated all those present to witness this memorable event. Thereafter, a speech was also followed by the NAUS Vice President North Central, he express his gratitude to the past leaders and also those coming on board, wishing them the best in all endeavors. Gov Lalong flags off construction of British America flyover bridge: "Says his administration did not politicise development."

Lalong made this know while speaking at the flagging off of the construction of the fly over (interchange) at British – American junction as well as the dualisation of the road to Lamingo Junction in Jos the Plateau state capital. “I want to remind our people that our Rescue Administration does not, and will not politicise development, From the projects I have embarked upon, it is evident that we have not only executed projects (both inherited and new ones), but ensured that every part of the State is touched irrespective of whether the people voted us or not. “We have put behind us the era of carrying out projects to favour ethnic, political or religious affiliations” Lalong further said. NATIONAL ASUU Worthy of note, is to recall the strike that engulfed Nigerian universities between 2008 and 2009, when students were out of school due to a Government and ASUU disagreement. Issues that were brought to bare included issues of IPPS, revitalization of Nigerian universities, salary structure amongst other demands. Looking forward, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was reached between Government and ASUU by September of 2009 which brought about resolution of the then ongoing strike, prior to this agreement Government has blatantly refused to implement at least 20% of this agreement which prompted another call by the lectures in 2020 to present another document of agreement termed “Memorandum of Action” (MOA) with very articulate demands. ASUU Strike: Ngige Meets Buhari, Says N92bn Paid To Lecturers

CHRISS NGIGI Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, met President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, for a briefing on the Federal Government-Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) negotiation. ASUU commenced strike on February 14 to pressurize the government for the payment of outstanding N1.2trillion. The lecturers are also demanding the adoption of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) payment platform. Ngige told State House correspondents that N92billion has been paid as earned allowances and revitalisation fees. Recalling the December 2020 agreement reached with ASUU, the minister said the government has fulfilled N40 billion for Earned Academic Allowances (EAA) for ASUU and other unions. “N30billion was also budgeted for revitalization that also was paid late last year. “N22.127billion was agreed to be paid from supplementary budget as Earned Allowances for 2021.
