Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press.   1.  As you are aware, yesterday, Friday 25th February 2022, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria signed the Electoral Bill 2022 into law. This is historic being the fourth time since the restoration of democracy in Nigeria in May 1999 that the Electoral Act was repealed and re-enacted. The 1998 - 1999 elections were administered by transitional decrees until the 2001 Electoral Act was passed into law. Then, the Act was repealed and re-enacted as the Electoral Act 2002 which was in turn repealed and re-enacted in 2006, 2010 and now we have the 2022 Electoral Act.   2.  You may recall that in 2017, the Commission decided to establish fixed dates for General Elections in Nigeria. This decision was based on our determination to create certainty in the electoral calendar and to enable all stakeholders in the electoral process (the electoral commission, political parties and candidates, security agencies, observers, the media etc

NANS calls for immediate evacuation of members in Ukraine.

By Yemi Olajutemu Ado Ekiti The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) National body has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately evacuate Nigerian students in Ukraine. This is coming days after Russian-Ukraine war broke claiming lives and properties of people in the area with international students not exempting Nigerians being affected. It was reliably gathered that the Nigerian embassy in Ukraine had earlier called for calm on one hand, and on the other hand asked Nigerian nationals in Ukraine to be conscious of their personal security. The NANS  National President Comrade  Sunday Asefon in a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari released by the Director of Student Matters Diaspora Comrade Abiodun Olofe noted that the cities occupied by Nigerians were under siege. “We condemn in totality the statement credited to the president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy that anybody within the age of 18 and 60 should not be seen outside and the adequate protection of

ASIDE KNOWING YOUR GENOTYPE BEFORE MARRIAGE, THERE'S NEED FOR A WOMAN TO KNOW HER RHESUS FACTOR.

ASIDE KNOWING YOUR GENOTYPE BEFORE MARRIAGE, THERE'S NEED FOR A WOMAN TO KNOW HER RHESUS FACTOR Rhesus Factor incompatibility is a leading cause of miscarriage. Not always your village people!  Rhesus Factor is an antigen that exists on the surface of red blood cells in most people (about 85% of humans). It is also referred to as Rh Factor. People who have the Rh have “positive” (+) blood types, such as A+, O+ or B+ are said to be rhesus Factor positive, while those who have the Rh “negative” (-) blood types, such as A–, O– or AB– are said to be rhesus factor negative. The “+” and “-” after the blood group is the Rhesus factor. Generally, we have A+, A–, B+, B–, AB+, AB–, O+ and O–. Rhesus factor is genetic in nature. It is inherited from the parents, emphatically the father. How does Rhesus Factor cause miscarriage? If  a Rh– woman is impregnated by a man with Rh–, there wouldn’t be any problem. However, if a Rh– woman is impregnated by a man with Rh+, there would be a

ADDRESS BY HIS EXCELLENCY, PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI, PRESIDENT FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA AT THE SIGNING OF ELECTORAL BILL 2022 INTO LAW STATE HOUSE, ABUJA. Friday 25th February, 2022 The Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill 2022, passed by the National Assembly forwarded for Presidential Assent, via a letter dated 31st January, 2022. In line with established tradition, I received inputs from relevant ministries, departments and agencies of government after careful and thorough reviews of the Bill and its implications to democratic processes in our country. 2. It is gratifying to note that the current Bill comes with a great deal of improvement from the previous Electoral Bill 2021. There are salient and praiseworthy provisions that could positively revolutionize elections in Nigeria through the introduction of new technological innovations. These innovations would guarantee the constitutional rights of citizens to vote and to do so effectively. 3. The Bill would also improve

COURT DISMISSED PDP MOTION, AFFIRIMED EARLIER JUDGEMENT NULLIFYING ENTIRE PDP LGA CONGRESSES ACROSS PLATEAU STATE Plateau State High Court presided by His Lordship Justice Arum Ashom has dismissed the motion filed by Bar Binchen Jantur and others seeking the reversal of a judgment with suit NO: PLD/J276cv/2020 delivered and dated 24th of June 2021 by same court presided by Justice Arum Ashom nullifying entire PDP LGA congresses conducted 21st of March 2020 in Jos East LGA and across Plateau State. The judge expressly dismissed the  motion for lack of merit. You will recalled that the National headquarters of PDP compiled with the judgment by barricading the twelve (12) LGAs affected by the Justice Arum Ashom judgment from voting during the last ill-fated state Congresses as well as the National convention which took place at the eagle square Abuja to avoid contaminating the electoral process and the legitimacy of the National officers of the PDP. The motion file
