IMPEACHMENT OF THE S.U.G PRESIDENT, TREASURER AND THE SUSPENSION OF FINANCIAL SECRETARY

FROM THE STUDENT UNION GOVERNMENT (S.U.G) LEGISLATIVE ARM PLATEAU STATE UNIVERSITY (PLASU)
9th November, 2022

Prior to the above, the Students Union Government wants to notify the mangement, stakeholders of the institution, students and the public that the Student Union Government President, Treasurer are being Impeached while the Financial Secretary suspended pending investigation.

The Students Union Government Legislative Arm Led by the Speaker Rt. Hon. Timsel Fannap have been up and doing to ensure accountability and transperency in the institution and so therefore it has become imperative to note that the decision of the house was taken  due to the findings the house had.

We need to keep records straight to give more clarification.The following were charged against the president;
(1). He printed Receipt without the consent of the parliament and could not account for the receipt printed.
(2). The Loan of one hundred thousand (N100,000) naira was given to an individual unaccounted for and uptill date have not been remitted.
(3). The Treasurer used one hundred thousand (N100,000) naira without the consent of the parliament for her personal investment.
(4). The president withdrew two hundred thousand (N200,000) naira without the consent of the house and with no reason for what  the money was used for.

The above were proven to be true and  after deliberation  21 Senators  out of 24 signed for the impeachement of the President and Treasurer while the Financial Secretary suspended.

The Parliament wants to assure the students that its acting in  accordance to the mandate given to her by the masses and will not compromise no matter the pressure its facing.

The Union will not be deterred rather it will act on the mandate given to her by the students.

The Acting President will be announced in due course while students academic activities continues.
